Had a chance to jump into a fitting room for a quick fit session today before leaving work. On the list today: the new lululemon Base Pace High-Rise Tight 25″ and the Align 25″ with Pockets – both in black. Partly bc it’s my staple color … but also bc my store only has my size in each of these pants in black. So basically it was fate.
Scroll down for fit pics, sizing tips and my take on the lululemon Base Pace High-Rise Tight 25″.

And, before you ask, the bra I’m wearing in the pics below is the lululemon Align™ Reversible Bra in the color White/Wee Are From Space Nimbus Battleship. It’s reversible (my fav!) and designed to provide light support for A/B cups.

Ok, I’ve been hype for this pant to come out. When it comes to my everyday uniform, I’m a Nulu girl, but for workouts you’ll find me in either Nulux or Everlux. I can’t remember off the top of my head, but I know I have at least 6 pairs of Fast + Free 25″ (and 4 pairs of F+F shorts in varying inseams), which up until now has been my favorite Nulux tight. It’s been a hot minute since we’ve seen the release of a new pant in this fabric and, let me tell you, it was well worth the wait.
I tried on the Base Pace 25″, but this tight also comes in 23″ and 28″ inseams. I’m 5’4″ and the 25″ is the perfect length and fits like a full-length pant with no extra fabric gathered at the bottom.
Before you fellow Nulux-heads run to your nearest store + snag a pair for yourself, there are a couple key differences from the Fast + Free that I need to fill you in on.
First off, there are no side drop-in pockets. For some of you, that may be a dealbreaker. But for me, I like that I have the option of wearing Nulux without the visual distraction of all the seaming that comes along with those pockets. Are there times when I’ll prefer the convenience of being able to quickly tuck my phone in my pocket to free up both hands? Sure, of course. But with the frequency I wear my Everywhere Belt Bag, I’ll always have an easily accessible and hands-free place to stow my phone.
Second, and probably equally, if not more importantly, these don’t fit like the Nulux you’re used. The hand-feel hasn’t changed, they still feel slick and cool-to-the-touch. It’s when you put them on that you notice the real difference. In comparison to the F+F, these feel (dare I say it??) compressive. Don’t panic, they’re not super compressive like a traditional Luxtreme tight … but, they are more compressive than you’d expect with the “naked sensation” Nulux fabric. In a really good way. I had to wiggle a bit to get them on, but my normal F+F size fit me perfectly. Once on, I felt slightly held-in + supported, but not squeezed or suffocated. Oddly, it still felt “naked” but tighter, if that makes any sense at all.
Overall, I loved these pants – 10/10 recommend.
The only reason I didn’t leave with them today is bc I’m kind of hoping for a restock of the Copper Brown or for the Dark Red to hit my store. But let’s be honest, I’ll probably still just end up with the black ones in the long run. #signaturecolor
Have you tried on the lululemon Base Pace High-Rise Tight 25″ or either of the other 2 inseams? Loved it, hated it? Did you score the Copper Brown 25″ and want to return them at my store so I can buy them? [ joking, joking ]
